Lorde: A Kiwi's Take on Midsummer

As a Swede, I spent this past weekend celebrating Midsummer with family and friends. It’s quintessentially the most Swedish thing you can ever do. In one day, in one celebration, we get together as a nation, and we toast to the most important thing in our lives: Nature.

And for some reason, this year, a Kiwi who comes from the other side of the world, did a brilliant job in evoking the same feeling we have while dancing around a maypole, but through her breakthrough video.

Twenty-four-year-old pop artist from New Zealand, Lorde, who is best known for her track, “Royals” dropped the single, "Solar Power". Like many, I’ve been following her career through the years, but this song really spoke to me.

The track and video are inspired by Midsummer, her love for nature, the outdoors and her recent trip to Antarctica in 2019. By releasing this song, Lorde is hoping to encourage her listeners to go outside and enjoy our beautiful planet, just as we Swedes do every day of the year. Doesn’t matter if it rains or shines, if it snows or it’s hot, we always find a way to connect with nature.

That is what my horse ranch means to me. Nothing can beat my days here riding my horses throughout the scenic Swedish countryside. This connection with nature that seems to be so intrinsically Swedish in me, is also the reason why creating Blisser made so much sense since its inception. It combined two facets of my life, my love for nature and the need to make the world a better place by leveraging my professional experience with my eagerness to fight climate change.

As Lorde used her talent to create an amazing track to inspire the world to enjoy and live nature, I wanted to create the perfect vehicle so people like her could connect with their fans and bring about important change.

"The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I'm outdoors,” says Lorde about her new song. “In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I've learnt to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through".

Don’t we all feel the same? Don’t we all want the same for generations to come?

Given the COVID-19 pandemic and the switch to a virtual lifestyle, many of us have had the opportunity to be in touch with nature and the outdoors while remote working allowed us to connect from anywhere.

Blisser and talent like Lorde are committed to changing the world and making it a better place. So, it’s only natural for me to fall for this song and await expectantly when she drops the whole album. My time reconnecting with nature has been a big inspiration for me to create Blisser, a consciously driven entertainment platform featuring change makers who share quality experiences with users that collectively creates a better world.

So, let’s “Solar Power” the entertainment industry, and change the world together.
